Engagement Ring Cake

My sister and one of my best friends got engaged on Friday night and he really was able to surprise her!  After the engagement they come up to my parent's house where we were all able to help celebrate! In honor of the her engagement, I made a chocolate cake shaped into a ring with a big 'ole diamond on top!  The diamond was covered in edible glitter, but the picture really just doesn't do it any justice!
Congratulations you two!!

Whoopie Pies

I actually made these for a Memorial Day pool party, but these are also perfect for the 4th of July!  Here's the link on how to make them.  This time I used white cake mixes and dyed one red and one blue!  I used butter cream frosting, but cream cheese frosting would be just as delicious!

Happy 4th of July!

Sunflower Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made to go with the cookies from the previous post.  They are chocolate and chocolate cupcakes and 12 of them are topped off with a 1" sunflower cookie! I LOVED how the sunflower cookies turned out and I know I will be making them again soon!

Lingerie Shower & Bachelorette Cookie Favors

I  made a dozen cookies as favors to be handed out to the guests that attended a lingerie shower!  They are decorated to match the party theme, purple, yellow, and sunflowers!  I just love making these corset and nighty cookies; there are so many possibilities and colors to choose from!

The individual sunflowers are cupcake toppers - see next post!

Texas Independence Day

Today is the day Texas celebrates our independence from Mexico through the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836.  This document allowed Mexican Texans to officially break free from Mexico, creating the Republic of Texas.

In honor of today I decided to make a patriotic, Texas flag cake! It is a single layer vanilla cake topped with my favorite cream cheese frosting!  Yum!

Cherry Blossom, Love Bird Cake

I have a picture of a Cherry Blossom tree hanging in our guest bathroom and I just love it and I have always wanted to make some cookies like it.  Well, I have never gotten around to it and then I decided I would make a cake with the said Cherry Blossom tree.

I  am not a big "V-Day" person.  I like the history of Valentine secretly marrying the young men to their sweethearts (sadly he was later martyred for it).  That's where it ends; Husband and I do not buy into the hype. No dinner date, no dressing up, no gifts (usually,) no flowers, and no candy (unless I buy it for this blog).  However, I love pink and red and who doesn't like hearts?  So, I do make a lot of Valentine treats!

So here was the cake I made for our dessert! A Cherry Blossom tree with two little love birds!

Red Velvet White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Need something manly to give your significant other for Valentine's Day?! Okay, nothing given on V-day is manly, but it's still better!  I having been trying to think of a fun dessert to make for Husband! I have made him girly hearts in the past, as well as Whooppie pies, but I wanted something different.  So I settled on these cookies.  Most of the time everything I make is from scratch so when I have the opportunity to use a cake box and not pull out all the materials and dirty every bowl, measuring cup, and spoon in my kitchen - I am all over that!

Red Velvet White Chocolate Chunk Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 Red Velvet Cake Box Mix
1 cup flour
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 egg
2 cups white chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350*. In a small bowl, mix butter until light and fluffy and then add the egg.  Once combined slowly add the flour and cake mix and mix until well combined.  Drop spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes. You should have about 24 cookies!

Enjoy, these are absolutely delicious!!

Valentine Conversation Hearts Cookies

I decided to make some simple, Valentine cookies.  I divided the dough into quarters and dyed each quarter a different color, then rolled and cut out the hearts like normal.  These are really cute, easy, and fun to make!  Enjoy!

Engagement cookies

My friend recently got engaged and I am so excited for her!  As a surprise, I baked and decorated her some proposal/engagement cookies.  She doesn't live near me, so I packaged them up and mailed them last Saturday. Here's to hoping they arrived intact!

I didn't take a picture of them packaged, but the bag with the frog had a little tag that said, "I am so happy you found your prince charming!"

J... is for Jax

My friend's baby is due any day now and as part of her shower gift I made her some letters to hang in the baby's room.  They are very similar to the cookies I made her!!

Valentine's Wreath

I had the idea to make a Valentine's wreath last Thanksgiving (of 2010,) but I could never find a good berry wreath I liked. I lost hope as Valentine's (of 2011) came and went and then I finally came across one at Marshall's while shopping for some home decor.  I quickly snatched it up (at a great price too) and finished my wreath over the weekend! I am very pleased with it and I think it might be my favorite wreath so far! I also may reuse this quote for some inside decor as well - we'll see!

I am not a big holiday decorator, but I really wanted to make a sweet Valentine wreath. Once Valentine's passes, our Aggie wreath goes back up on the door until our Christmas wreath.

Austin, TX Color Run Cookies!

I came across what looked like a fun 5K to participate in a few months, so I recruited some of my friends and now we are signed up and ready to run the Color Run on February 4th. I am really excited; although I have been running since high school (and stepped it up in College) this is the first organized run I have participated in.  So, in customary fashion, I have designed some cookies for the event.

The Color Run partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help raise money to build homes in the Austin area.  We will be pelted with paint after every kilometer we run and we help raise money for a great cause, what better reason to join a race?.  I cannot wait!

If you are in the Austin area, you should definitely do it!  Message me if you want to join our group! =D

101 Dalmatian Cookies

My friend's baby shower was last weekend and I was out of town and couldn't go, so I wanted to surprise her with something fun.  She is having a boy and his room is decorated with a101 Dalmatian theme so I made some cookies with a J (first letter of his name) for her!
