Engagement Ring Cake

My sister and one of my best friends got engaged on Friday night and he really was able to surprise her!  After the engagement they come up to my parent's house where we were all able to help celebrate! In honor of the her engagement, I made a chocolate cake shaped into a ring with a big 'ole diamond on top!  The diamond was covered in edible glitter, but the picture really just doesn't do it any justice!
Congratulations you two!!

  2. Hi! Thank you! It is butter cream frosting and I got the silver color by slooowly adding black frosting drops until it was the silver that I wanted. Be careful, because if do too much there is no going back!

    1. Thank you! I love plain buttercream vs fondant since it tastes so much better...making one this weekend!

One last question..did you just cut the shape yourself, or did you use a bundt pan/round pan with glass cup in the middle to make the ring shape? Thanks so much!

    3. Both 8' cake circles were cut and placed next to each other to make this design. I used a cup with the right proportion to trace around for the hole in the center. You can eat that while you decorate the rest of the cake! ;-) As for the diamond, I drew out the diamond shape I wanted and made sure it was symmetrical, then placed that in the middle of a circle cake and cut off the edges! I hope this helps! It was actually much easier than I thought it was going to be!
